He IS Coming

He IS Coming
by David Brenneman

Jesus promised TO come and did so over 2,000 years ago. You'll do good to believe and understand that He said He would do it again when His Father says it's time.

"Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.” Acts 17:30-31.

"Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”  For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.  But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.  But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.  The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.  Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!  But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells." 2 Peter 3:3-13.

My Dear Reader...things indeed are heating up in the Middle East...and truth be known...this is just a preheat compared to the fires that are coming.

Throughout the Bible there's prophecies concerning the times of the end.  What has indeed, as the Scriptures we just read said, escaped the notice of most is that as of this moment in time there's nothing significant left in Bible prophecy that needs to occur before Jesus returns.

Nothing.

Perhaps the few significant events in recent history may jog your memory.  The re-established Jewish State of Israel.  That was Bible prophecy.  Perhaps as well re-centering the Jewish Capital to being Jerusalem.

It's been a never ending study for some archeologists to find the Ark of the Covenant.  I do believe that it will be found.  Much as had happened in their past they will again believe that with it in their possession that they would be invincible.  The problem that escaped their notice back then was that their obedience to the Word of the Lord was the greater part of the Ark's power.

We who are in Christ Jesus are awaiting the return of Jesus.  The question for all Christians is whether or not they are eagerly anticipating His return or are being couch potatoes about it.  Whether they are excited about it or are being lazy about it.

Even though it was probably apparent that His return was a ways off, the early Church was anticipating it.  Living life in an expectant way.

Will you love His appearing or will you be filled with regret and overwhelmed by remorse?

Will you be ready with a smile on your face and arms outstretched?

Your mindset about that in this here this now will impact your faith while going through this life.

The Bible says than in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, that's how quick the return will be.  Tell me my Dear Reader, how can you all the sudden be prepared for an event that happens faster than a bolt of lightning?  Faster than even a train of thought.

How will you who aren't saved yet going to all the sudden decide that now is the time because you just now think that it's ok?  Remember we are talking about an event that is going to be faster than the thought you just had about what we're talking about.

Coming to Christ in this here this now...the fact that people ARE being saved...is why He hasn't returned yet.  But note very well that His Father set the date of His return, probably while He was on the cross.  The thief on the cross was the first bookend, there will be yet another of like kind at the end of the Church age.  Someone who says yes to the free gift of salvation and then we all leave in the twinkling of an eye.

The purpose of Believers is two fold.  Growing in Christ Jesus to become more like Christ and the other is to proclaim that free gift of salvation to the world.

I am excited about living in that time when Jesus is most likely to return, now that Bible prophecy has more than likely caught up with everything written in the Scriptures.

It's highly likely that my Grandfather on my Mom's side of the family passed while he was reading his Bible.  I would love His return to be after I post one of these posts that urges the readers of it to come to Christ for salvation.

I don't decide what I write each day.  I listen to the prompting of the Spirit of God.  He shows me the Scriptures to use and provides the means to use them.  He draws the world to find this blog.  To date over 1.4 million views are known of when all the platforms are added up.  I leave the drawing of people to it to the Lord.

You are reading this for a reason.  Either you believe that you stumbled upon this or in truth you were lead to it.

To be saved means to take that kernel of faith you have and to step out with it.

"But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”—that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.”  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:8-13.

The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Everyone needs to be saved in Christ Jesus.  We need a Savior who is Christ the Lord.

This morning a chorus of a great hymn has been playing in my mind.

"Only trust Him only trust Him only trust Him now.  He will save you He will save you He will save you now."

Jesus kept the first promise of His coming.  He will keep all the rest of His promises.  Including returning.
