WHY and why

“Behold, I am vile.” Job 40:4 NKJV

Poor lost sinner, here is an encouraging word for you! You think you cannot come to God because you are vile. Well, there is not a saint living on earth who hasn’t felt vile. If Job and Isaiah and Paul were all obliged to say “I am vile,” will you be ashamed to make the same confession? If divine grace doesn’t remove all sin from believers, how do you hope to do it yourself? And if God loves His people while they are still vile, do you think your vileness will keep Him from loving you? Believe on Jesus, you outcast from the world’s “good company”! Jesus calls you, just as you are. Not the righteous, not the righteous; Sinners, Jesus came to call. “Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Wretched,” Joseph Hart (1759) Say right now, “You have died for sinners. I am a sinner, Lord Jesus—sprinkle your blood on me.” If you will confess your sin, you will find pardon. If you now say, with all your heart, “I am vile, wash me,” you will be washed immediately. The Holy Spirit can enable you to cry from the heart, Just as I am, without one plea But that thy blood was shed for me, And that thou bidd’st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, come! “Just As I Am,” Charlotte Elliott (1835) If that is your prayer, you will get up with all your sins pardoned. Even if you awakened this morning with every possible sin on your account, you will rest tonight accepted in the Beloved. Though you were once wrapped in rags of sin, you will be adorned with a robe of righteousness and appear as bright and clean as the angels. Now—pay attention—“Now is the accepted time” (2 Corinthians 6:2 NKJV). If you believe on the One who justifies the ungodly, you are saved. Oh, may the Holy Spirit give you saving faith in the One who accepts the most vile. - C.H. Spurgeon Morning and Evening

Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness? 2 Peter 3:11

When God told Abraham He was going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham's life was immediately and radically affected. Noah could not carry on business as usual once he knew what God was planning for his generation. Knowing that God is preparing judgment brings a sobering reality to Christians, helping us recognize what is eternally significant and what is not. Peter cautions us that a catastrophic time of judgment is coming. On the day of the Lord there will be a great noise, and the elements will melt with a fervent heat. On that day, he warns, the earth will be consumed. Peter assures us that this is not mere speculation; it is certain and imminent. He then asks the crucial question that applies to each generation: “What kind of persons ought you to be?” With judgment pending for us and countless millions of people facing destruction, how should we live our lives? Many Christians attach great value to temporal things. Hobbies and possessions consume us, leaving little time or energy to invest in what is eternal. More than anyone else, Christians should be sensitive to the times in which we live. We should walk so closely with God that if He were preparing to bring judgment upon people, we could warn those in imminent peril. Since Christ has been long-suffering in His return so that no one might perish (2 Pet. 3:9), should we not invest our effort in building God's eternal kingdom? Should there not be an urgency about us to complete the tasks that God gives us? - Blackaby Experiencing God Day by Day

Why? Is what world events have been reduced to.  Why so much unrest. Why so much civil disobedience. Why so much rage.  Why so much fear.  Why this. Why that.

The Bible says everyone at least has a basic understanding of God existing.  Choosing to deny it is where mankind goes wrong.

The one devotional this morning points out what sin has done to us. The other is why Christ is coming back.  Sin has to be dealt with.  We are indeed vile!  Believe me, that's one area of expertise that Satan has.  It's convincing people how disgustingly unworthy they are for the gift of Salvation.  The second devotional is why we who have found Salvation should live differently and should be the reflected light of Christ in the world.

It was at night when the Titanic went down.  When a few daring lifeboats returned to try to save anyone it was with the lanterns they searched.  They searched in vain but it's the light they were hoping to draw people to their lifeboats.

There's light in every believer to be shared and shone in the world.  Paul says it this way...in what manor or conduct ought we to live. Yes we have work to do. God said that was part of the curse of sin in Genesis.  But how we work can still reflect Christ.  When we aren't at work, our lives can still reflect something.  It will either be our sin nature or Christ.  The choice is ours.

Christ told all of us enough to be able to tell others of the judgment to come.  He told us who to trust in and who not to.

Judgment is coming.  Someone asked me jokingly what chapter in Revelation were we in?  We are in the latter part of the letters to the Churches.  Really really let that sink in.  We are IN the flow of the book of Revelation.  The Church and this world has been in it since Christ went to Heaven in the book of Acts.  But soon the next chapter will unfold.  As will Ezekiel, Daniel, and all the other books.

If you are a Christian but aren't living it, you are getting your warning.  Same as me.  Begin living right before Christ now while there's time to store up treasure in Heaven.
If you are not a believer in Jesus, you too are getting your warning.  There's ample graphic evidence in the description and conduct of how man will be just before Christ returns.  It's happening now.  You are living in denial to see it any other way.

Why and why.  Our way of employing the use of a word changes everything.

Why are we finding life so hard?
Why are we so fearful?
Why are we depressed?
Why are we so angry?
Why are we...

Look at the warning signs.  You know the why.  God may have had me write it out again but you know!  Scripture says you light a lamp to share the light with the room. Not to hide it under a basket.

You know why you are stressed.
You know.  What you do about it is the crucial part.
