What your mouth is used for

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Psalms 84:12 "O Lord of hosts, how blessed is the man who trusts in you"

"Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith. Romans 12:1-3

These are the passages that God brought to mind this morning.  Add to it, the lyrics of Carrollton's song "Tell Me".

OVERVIEW

Lyrics

Feel like I'm a nobody
Wonder if I'll ever amount to much
Seems like no matter what I do
It's never gonna be enough
Should I just give up?
Lord, I need to hear You speak
Tell me I am loved
Tell me I am known
That You died for me
I am not alone
Tell me I'm Your child
The one Your heart beats for
I can find my strength
Knowing I am Yours
You've always known what my heart needs
And You tell me
You wrote Your name upon my heart
You knew me before my life began
You still have a plan
And when I'm starting to forget
Jesus, You tell me who I am
Who I am
You tell me I am loved
Tell me I am known
And that You died for me
I am not alone
You tell me I'm Your child
The one Your heart beats for
I will find my strength
Knowing I am Yours
You've always known what my heart needs
And You tell me, oh
Your voice has the power to heal the hurt inside
Your voice speaks the truth, brings my heart back to life
I am loved
Oh, I am known
You tell me I am loved
Tell me I am known
That You died for me
I am not alone
You tell me I'm Your child
The one Your heart beats for
I will find my strength
Knowing I am Yours
You've always known what my heart needs
And You tell me
Lord, You tell me
Oh, You tell me
You tell me, oh

My thoughts are sometimes all over the place, except when it comes to writing this blog.  In God's wisdom and work, the thoughts come together to hopefully make sense to at least one person besides me.

He has indeed taken this blog places that no book written by me could ever go.  There yet may be a book to be written but that's for another day.

What you read in Scripture and song this morning was a burden on my heart before they all came together today.  I read so many Christians saying things without regard for the receiver of their words.  They are not reflecting on how it makes God look by the person doing the hearing part.  As one man said "Hey man, do you eat with that mouth?"

Are you at all glorifying God in your words and deeds?  In your zeal to rage against things in this life, is your mouth reflecting Christ in your life or that of a noisy sewer?

Yes, we have a right and call to be angry about what angers God. But it doesn't give us the right to become the Judge, jury and executioner.  Judgment belongs with God.

Your rights are not a reason to turn your mouth into a gutter trash spewing mess.

Just how does that tell a dying world that they need Christ?

In several places in the Bible we are warned of how evil the tongue can be.  Words spoken cannot be taken back.
Words said in anger cut deep.  Their wounds take way too much time to heal.

In Christ we have a role and responsibility as a joint heir to God to represent Him in this world.  As the Adopted, our conduct is under constant scrutiny by demons and Satan himself before Christ.  Read the opening of the book of Job.

Most have heard "garbage in garbage out". Is this you my friend?

How can people who dine at the Lord's house also rage at the people around us whom also share His grace and mercy as we do ourselves?

As Tell Me says in the lyrics, remember whose you are!

Remember Paul's words in Romans.  Presenting your body's, including your mouth, as a living sacrifice.

Do things in this world anger me?  Yes.
Should I react out to where others see?

Read on in the New Testament about causing a brother to stumble. Romans 14:13 "Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother."

Is the life people seeing in you honoring God or is it only showing a temperamental attitude?  When people hear you do they hear Christ or the garbage disposal running?

If faith comes by hearing, so much so that that is the path to Salvation, if people hear you and not God, what does that say of your beliefs?

It's going to get worse before it gets better.   This world is not going to get better until after the Tribulation period...and that hasn't begun yet.  The Church is here to tell a dying world that Christ is the way to be saved.  Once the Church is taken from this world then that horrific 7 year Tribulation period will happen. Billions will die. Billions more will want to die but will be unable to do so.  A world leader will arise promising much, demanding that people worship him. He will rage and hate anything to do with Israel and the Church...it just won't be known at the beginning.

People don't need to hear our anger.  They need to hear what Christ has done in us.  Like Andrew the Apostle, "Hey! Come and see! Jesus is the one you have been looking for!"
