For While You Were Yet in the Womb

For While You Were Yet in the Womb
by David Brenneman

"There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers." Proverbs 6 16-19 NASB

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you," Jeremiah 1:5a.

"For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You." Psalm 139:13-18 NASB

Wow. People wonder at just what DOES the Bible say about life, about abortion about how precious every child is to God?  These were mostly of my reading today.

Note that part in Proverbs that the Lord Jesus Christ says that He HATES. "Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers."

To take the life of an unborn child is to shed innocent blood.
To devise plans to do things such as that.
To utter lies concerning things such as this.

We read in more than one place of how detailed the interested in us Jesus is!

We read of how much He cares about every single aspect of what it took to create each person.  Of the truth that He hates the very idea of destroying what He took so much love and care to create.

We read also within these passages of the truth that He didn't make a mistake when He made anyone.  There are no people ever that were "supposed" to be the opposite sex. That's paramount to saying that God is capable of creating error. To saying that He is capable of mistakes. Which in this same passage is shown that it is something that He hates:  liars.

I have often wondered why I was born the way that I am.

For most intents and purposes I look like anyone else my age.  But by far my body isn't. I was born with various birth defects, permitted by God, to make me who I am. This doesn't at all imply that God made mistakes in creating me.  Nobody, especially not my parents, did anything to cause my development before I was born.  Read again King David's heart in His writing Psalm 139.

I am certainly an advocate of telling all that we are to die to self and live to Christ Jesus.  We who are in Christ Jesus have a divine purpose for serving God.  We are in the body of Christ as He, the Spirit of God, sees fit. I have a specific God-given reason for being how I am physically.

To tell you what I believe is part of that reason.  I know my family lineage well. I know how I easily could have been living life had God not permitted me to be born as I am. I would have honestly had a much rougher life in this world. I would have been cocky, would have gone down roads in life that I would have taken that wouldn't lead to Christ being glorified.

This choice of God doesn't mean that He makes mistakes.  A very fundamental truth of God is that we are to die to self. Take up our own cross and follow Him.  We are crucified with Christ. Galatians 2:20 NASB "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."

We have a specific function in the body of Christ.  To be truthful, you look at the lives of the Disciples and much of what we count as "living life" isn't a part of that.

God made me, He made you, He made every single person with a purpose and call in Christ Jesus.  Even those with special needs. Even those of us with birth defects. There are no disposable people.
There are no unborn that Jesus doesn't love any more or any less than He loves you or I.

He so loved the world that He gave His life that we all might live.

God HATES the shedding of innocent blood.  The senseless murder of unborn children qualifies.  Do not take this to mean that throughout the judgments of God that God is guilty of murder in the Old Testament.  The finite mind of man cannot fully understand or comprehend the entirety of the thoughts of God concerning sin and judgment.  What we know of His judgments and the consequences of sin are sufficient for us to know that we must choose either Heaven or Hell. Receiving the free gift of salvation or not.  I have many questions for Jesus when we enter into eternity that can only be asked and possibly understood by me only after I receive my glorified body.  I have a 146 IQ and believe me much is still beyond my comprehension.

Jesus loves everyone equally.
Jesus hates those who would shed innocent blood.
It's no paradox.  It's Holiness.  Sin destroys what God created to be Holy.

I personally love that passage about before I was born Jesus knew me.

As someone posted in Facebook the other day:

God will answer this simple, sincere prayer for you and me:
God, help me to be repulsed by what repulses you;  and, help me to find great joy in the same things that bring you joy.

God made no mistake in creating you my Dear Reader.  He made no mistakes in creating a man to be a man or a woman to be a woman.  In Genesis it clearly says He created man in His image. Male and female He created them.
