What we can do to hurt God's Plans

Do not quench the Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19

We cannot prevent God from accomplishing His work in the world around us, but we can quench His Spirit in our lives. God has given us the freedom to withstand the Holy Spirit's activity in our lives. When we ignore, disobey, or reject what the Spirit is telling us, we quench His activity in us. The prophet Isaiah described the result: “Hearing you will hear and not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them” (Isa. 6:9; Matt. 13:14–15).

When you sin, the Holy Spirit will convict you of your need for repentance. If you habitually ignore Him and do not repent, your heart will grow hardened to God's Word. If the Spirit speaks to you about God's will for you, and if you refuse to take action, a time will come when the Spirit's voice will be muted in your life. If you continually reject the Spirit's promptings, a day will come when you no longer hear a word from God. If you repeatedly stifle God's Word to you so that you are no longer sensitive to His voice, He will not give you a fresh word. Be wary of resisting the voice of the Spirit in your life. You may not always be comfortable with what the Spirit is saying to you, but His words will guide you to abundant life.

We who are in Christ have a liberty in Christ for sure that comes with Salvation.

What we sometimes forget is we too can get in God's way and by both actions and inaction cause Him to look elsewhere for His will to be done.

We can quench the Spirit by our desire to be successful, our words, our lack of desire to be successful.  By anything we think or do. We are to be diligent workers in the harvest.  Not idle, not off doing our own thing.  Christian people have but one road to retirement and that's when we are entering into His presence does it begin.

We can get in God's way and slow or redirect His plans by maintaining our position in the world in a wrong way. Our penchant for selfishness always rears its head most often in times when we should be selfless.

God's plans will not be thwarted. You may not step up when He calls on you and offers you the opportunity to participate, but, He does have others to go to if and when you don't.

Your life is hidden in Christ your Salvation was bought with a price, the blood of Jesus.  We owe it to Him to live for Him at any opportunity He brings to us.

The world, family, friends, acquaintances and any other kind of person in your life may think you crazy or insane when you act when God says it's time to act. Look not at them as a gauge of your obedience.

Look at your choices you have made, look at your decisions. Were you selfish and self-centered in any of them an an opportunity to serve was missed?

Are you doing your best for God or yourself?  Life reviewed in the presence of Jesus will show the truth.  Now is the time to get it right.
