What DO your eyes see? Are they open?

What DO your eyes see? Are they open?

And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. Genesis 1:4 NLT

Light might well be good since it sprang from that good decree, “Let there be light” (Genesis 1:3). We who enjoy it should be more grateful for it than we are, and see more of God in it and by it. Physical light is said by Solomon to be sweet (Ecclesiastes 11:7), but gospel light is infinitely more precious, for it reveals eternal things and ministers to our immortal nature. When the Holy Spirit gives us spiritual light and opens our eyes to behold the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, we behold sin in its true colors and ourselves in our real position. We see the Most Holy God as He reveals himself, the plan of mercy as He defines it, and the world to come as the Word describes it. Spiritual light has many beams and prismatic colors, but whether they are knowledge, joy, holiness, or life, all are divinely good. If the light we receive is good, what must the light source be? How glorious must be the place where He reveals himself! Oh, Lord, since light is so good, give us more of it—and more of yourself, the true light. But no sooner is there a good thing in the world than a division is necessary. Light and darkness have no communion; God has divided them, let us not confuse them. Sons of light must not have fellowship with deeds, doctrines, or deceits of darkness. The children of the day must be sober, honest, and bold in their Lord’s work, leaving the works of darkness to those who shall dwell in it forever. Our churches should by discipline divide the light from the darkness, and we individually, by our distinct separation from the world, should do the same. In judgment, in action, in hearing, in teaching, and in association, we must discern between the precious and the vile, and maintain the great distinction which the Lord made upon the world’s first day. Oh, Lord Jesus, be our light throughout the whole of this day, for your light is the light of men. - C.H. Spurgeon Morning and Evening

My friend are you there today with your eyes opened or closed to the world around you?  Are you trying to get through life by trying not to acknowledge what is happening around you or are you walking with Jesus through it?

Are you Children of God, Children of the light, or are you not?

We don't really want to be both.  As Spurgeon says we who are of Christ are now to be walking in the light.  We shouldn't be embracing the things of darkness.

But perhaps the greater problem is realizing what and acknowledging what God says ARE things of darkness.

Satan began with "Did God really say..."

He still begins with that line with every single person who has ever lived.

He twists that a little.

"Is that really bad?  Isn't that looking good?  How can something that is so enjoyable be that bad?"

Satan's minions spend 24/7 watching every single person alive today.  Memorizing their every move, looking for exploits to use.  Looking for an edge.  How to set a trap.  How to cause believers to be ineffective, how to keep those who are on the edge of Salvation from saying yes to it. How to trap people in sin, both the believer and unbeliever.

You are most deceived if you do not acknowledge what the Bible says about Spiritual warfare.

There IS a war going on. It has raged for centuries.  Only because time still exists.
But time was made for man, not for the Spirit realm.  You die, you step out of time and begin eternity either in Heaven or Hell.  God has set limits on time.  No there are no time travelers like in science fiction. Have there been time travelers? In a sense, yes, as ordered by Jesus.  Some prophets have been granted to see the future.  But only in respect to the writing of the Bible.

In our lives we choose obedience or not. We choose to believe God or not. Abraham chose to believe God and it was credited to him as righteousness.

We choose each day whether we obey or not. We choose to look to Christ or not. We choose to close our eyes to the discord of today or we choose to face it with eyes open and focused on Our Savior.  You can't focus on Jesus with your eyes closed.  When Jesus healed one person He ordered him to LOOK at Him.  He wasn't going to see the work of God by not obeying or looking where God was.

Are you divided? Are you supposedly divided between what you think you want and obedience to God?

Have you been divided for so long that wrong habits have formed?

Are you among the trapped? Believing that there is no way out?

Jesus is the Way.  That's not an excuse, that's not a crutch, that's not a belief, that's the truth.  He is the only way.  He alone will reach through anything in life to save even one.  He doesn't throw ropes of hope, He is there personally, to take a hand.

Are you so back and forth in this world that neither you nor the world knows if you are a Christian or not?  Does your mouth say one thing and your actions another?

Does both swearing and blessing come from your mouth?  Is your anger an out of control thing when aroused?  Do you only react in despair when life changes?  Is your first reaction to rage at things and people rather than to come to Christ in prayer?

Be honest with yourself, you don't need to be honest with me, but yourself.  Are you embracing God or are you embracing the world?  Are your moments of enjoyment only in things of this world?  Be it sports, television, movies, games of various kinds, celebrities.  All can and at some point will become idols.  Why? Why would this be true? Because Satan's been using them as attractive carnival prizes to get you away from God.  You see the flashy lights, hear the pleasant music and the siren song of the guy beckoning you to just try it out...you can do it. Come on...

Yet everyone trapped in idolatry refuses to acknowledge that for what it is.

Look at the order of the 10 Commandments.  What comes first? What comes 2nd? An so on.  What Satan wants is the opposite of each of those 10. In the same order.

Out of obedience we are to live this life to Christ.  To be found doing the Father's business until Christ returns.  That is also what Satan doesn't want us doing.

My friend, open your eyes.  Look for the first time without the rose colored glasses. Look at this world and stop living in denial.  Realize that it is just as Christ had said it would be like.  The time is now to be right before God.  In a blink of an eye you won't get a second chance.
