One Step Away

One Step Away
by David Brenneman

Many have heard many a Preacher teach on the truth that anyone is one step away from returning to Jesus Christ.

The testimony of my friend who passed still resonates with me in this regard too, not just the overwhelming joy at her publicly confessing that Jesus is her Lord and Savior.

In one single step of her turning, these witnesses - friends of hers as well - saw the truth of the Word of God.

My Dear Reader...it doesn't matter what choices you made to land you where you are in your life.  Jesus is indeed one step away from you.  You may not escape some or all the consequences of why you are where you are in life, but, you will NOT be going into your future life alone anymore.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit." Psalms 51:10-13.

This plea...works.

"All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me." John 6:37-39.

Come to Jesus...that's all you're to do...Jesus does the rest.

Create in me a clean heart.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."  Proverbs 3:5-6.

Jesus said we need to have the faith and trust of a child.  We as adults overthink so much.   We're dreaming up, drumming up, reasons why we're not good enough for the presence of a Holy God.

Jesus said to come to Him.

He did NOT say when you get your act together then come look Him up.

He didn't say after you're done sowing your wild oats, come find Him and He'll see what He can do.

He didn't say to do anything but...come to Him...in faith...and He would trade our filthy rags of out life for His righteousness.

Consequences are always possible, but, my Dear Reader, you will indeed have your Savior and Lord with you throughout all of it.

"But...with all I have done...it's impossible!"

God IS the God of the impossible.

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.

Turn back to Jesus...love Him with all your heart, mind, soul and spirit.  Love your neighbor as yourself...and He WILL take care of YOU.

You might stay on the path you are or He may bring about something entirely new just for you!

Jesus is ready with open arms just for you...just as He was for my friend.

My hope is that people reading this would realize that Jesus IS ready to give them another chance.  My belief in that as long as a person is breathing there is hope for a changed heart and life has only been strengthened by the testimony of my friend before she went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Forget all the buts of why you think He wouldn't.  Those are deceptions and lies to keep you in chains.

My prayer for you is that you would find the peace of God, the hope of a new life in Christ Jesus, that's waiting just for you.

He's one step away...
