Fears and Worries in Today's World

Fears and Worries in Today's World
By David Brenneman

I am not one to openly express myself often in public.  In fact it's taken years of God working with me to get me to express myself in writing.  By nature I am an introvert. With that being said it stands to reason that I am a thinker more than a doer.  Figuring out problems and processes is what I do. Sometimes I multitask in my brain on many things at once.

Worry is a part of human nature.  As one person put it, worry is a prayer with no direction.

Is it possible to be walking through life with God at your side yet be a worrier?

I have often found myself stuck in circular thoughts of cause and effect.  Pretty much seeing a problem that I don't know how to change the outcome of. It inevitably leads me back to the problem at hand and starts all over.  This too is a form of worrying when it consumes too much of me.

This world is in its last centuries.  The last thousand years plus a minimum of 7 years and whatever exists between now and the Rapture.

The world's governments are aligning themselves to Satan's idea of a world that worships him.  The Restraining One, the Holy Spirit, is what has been preventing him from being successful for 2,000 plus years.

From its beginning, the Church has had great struggles. The Apostles all had incredible lives lived for Jesus. Only 1 died a peaceful death.  That was John.  All were tempted to be in a state of worry.  Reading for yourself you see often some despaired of life due to their circumstances but attribute their survival to God who never left them nor had forsaken them.

Are we really that different today?  Don't look at technology. Look at people.

I see Christians who worry as much if not more than those who have not received Christ Jesus as their Savior.  People who ought to know better.  Stressing about how to survive what's happening in the world when that is for GOD to provide for!  At what point did it become our job to provide all our needs in Christ Jesus? At what point did it become our place to worry about food or clothing when Jesus said that was covered by God?

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7

For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky, that they do not sow, nor reap, nor gather crops into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more important than they? And which of you by worrying can add a single day to his life’s span? And why are you worried about clothing? Notice how the lilies of the field grow; they do not labor nor do they spin thread for cloth, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided to you.

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34

I see people so concerned and worried about surviving what God is taking us all through that instead of doing more to support the Great Commission command they spend their time, energy and effort looking out only for themselves!

The Rapture hasn't happened yet for a reason.  Satan does not know who the last person who is to be saved is. He cares not who dies as long as it's not that person who is yet to be found by the Church.

In our worrying and selfishness we are helping Satan to prolong the delay in the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ!  In Malachi the people were rebuked for spending money on themselves while the Temple was in need of work.  There's always going to be the poor among us because Jesus said so.

But worrying about how to survive this world isn't about being prepared it's robbing God of the time, energy and effort due Him in the work of reaching people for Christ.  How do believers pray and read their Bible yet do more to hold onto this world than they do to enrich their walk with Jesus?  Look at the parable of the rich man.  Considering how to build bigger barns to hold his wares. Yet he is told he is a fool because that very night his soul would be required of him.

Me, personally, I am not fretting about how to survive anything this world is throwing around.  That's God's job in regards to my needs.  I am called to follow Christ.  I cannot be harmed outside of the Will of God if I am where I am supposed to be in Christ Jesus.  It doesn't mean to simply fall down when things happen, but it certainly doesn't mean worrying about supplies and such when God says that's His job to supply all our needs in Christ Jesus.

Let today be the day you let go of what is worrying you.  As Jesus said in regards to a Disciple so He says to you and I. If He wants them to live until He returns what is that to us? You follow Me!
