Smashed

Smashed

There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Psalm 76:3 NLT

Our Redeemer’s glorious cry of “It is finished” (John 19:30) was the death knell of all His people’s adversaries, the breaking of the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Look at the hero of Golgotha, using His cross as an anvil and His pain as a hammer, smashing our sins to shards, snapping those poisoned arrows, trampling on every indictment and destroying every accusation. The mighty Breaker strikes hammer blows far more powerful than the fabled weapon of Thor. How the demonic arrows fly to fragments, and the diabolical shields are broken like clay pots! Look, He draws from its hell-made scabbard the dreaded sword of satanic power, snapping it across His knee like a man breaks a dry stick and throws it into the fire. Dear reader, no sin of believers can now be an arrow to mortally wound them, no condemnation can now be a sword to kill them—for the punishment of our sin was carried by Christ, and full atonement was made for our wickedness by our blessed Substitute and Guarantor. Who now accuses? Who now condemns? Christ has died, indeed has risen again. Jesus has emptied the quivers of hell, quenched every fiery arrow and broken off its head. The ground is littered with splinters and relics of the weapons of hell’s warfare; they remain visible to us to remind us of our former danger and of our great deliverance. Sin no longer has power over us. Jesus has made an end of it and put it away forever. The enemy’s destructions are over. You who claim Jesus’s name, talk of all His wonderful works. Don’t be silent, in the daylight or when the sun goes to its rest. Bless the Lord, oh my soul!

That word...smashed. Think about the depth of what "IT IS FINISHED!!!" Really. Consider that God, in everything knows every possible outcome, every potential choice that was made or ever could be made by every human being who ever lived or will live. Every single type and kind of sin was smashed, obliterated, destroyed in its power at those words.

Sorry for the late posting.  When you turn off an alarm for a vacation day, remember to turn it back on later.

We live in a world that people are really ungrateful, unloving (as God's Word defines it), and are more and more wanting freebies rather than working for things. It's not helping humanity its bringing out the worst in them.

Are you among those who are being like this?

Are you among those who put your wants and desires before what God has called and chosen you to do?   Consider it well you should.   What will be your answer to that question from Jesus?  Everyone who is saved in Christ Jesus has a mission and a purpose in this world that relates to only one thing.  Introducing someone else to Jesus.

Think deeply upon that.

If you aren't praying as directed by God's Word, then you just might want to reconsider your motives.

In downsizing, the more "stuff" that we get rid of, the more we find we have time for other things.  Think that's a coincidence?  I think not.  Satan uses the silk chains of things to ensnare you and I.  Consider it also that there are no iron chains to bind us to sin.  It comes from within. You feed whatever you want to grow within you.

How are you praying? Are you thanking God for the good n not so good things in your life?  Are you forgiving others as Christ has forgiven you?

Remembering to pray for your leaders?  Your Pastor and his family?  Your family?  Your people within your world?  Your former coworkers?  Current coworkers?  Current and former friends?  Note clearly that we haven't touched on the subject of things.  Are you praying for your spouse?  Your children if you have been so blessed?  Have you prayed for the Church?  Note again that I didn't say your Church.  Scripture says there's only one Church and Christ is the head.  There are no denominations in Heaven.  Are you THEN praying for the growth of those believers that you know?

Praying for your job, finances, etc is OK and having peace about such things is essential, but they shouldn't be your only prayer requests. You shouldn't also pray the same prayer about food either. Jesus had a big problem with the Jewish leaders who only droned on empty prayers just to be heard.

Jesus smashed sin. Obliterated it's power.  Opening the door to Heaven through Himself.  Enabling us to someday be with Him.  Are you working towards completing your assignment while here or ?

Start today if you haven't been doing any of this. Don't be listening to the world because they will call you many things because of your obedience in Christ Jesus.  You will be labeled many things but fear not He has overcome the world.
