My Help, Your Help?

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;

The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Psalms 121

We are guaranteed to face troubles and trials in this life.  Nobody is exempt.

Think on this passage, read it several times.  Think about the writer.

King David experiencing life.  He had seen a lot, been through a lot.  Got anointed King long before he actually was to be King because Saul hadn't died yet.

Had a lot of growing to do and he wasn't ready.

We are really not so much different.

We face great challenges and small ones.  We face differing opinions about things. We face the morning, often without starting it right.

We are given each day as a gift from God.

Nobody has been promised a today.

So where do you go from here?

You have a bunch of choices.  What to do first.  Get dressed or go make coffee. Get breakfast or make it yourself.  Jeans or ?

Not exactly challenges yet.

Then you start interacting with people.

Here comes the challenges.  Our wishes versus theirs. Our desires versus their desires.  Our wants etc...

Preferring one another above ourselves as Scripture says can be difficult.  We want to say and do so much but where to begin.  When to not speak but just simply listen.

In it all we aren't alone.

We who are believers have an advocate.
We have Jesus with us.

Rest in that for a moment.

We needn't be surprised by what happens in this world. God's still in control.

Rest in the arms of your Savior.
Peace is only found there.
