The book of Life....MATTERS!

And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them; and they were judged, every one of them according to their deeds. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.  Revelation 20:12-15 NASB

How many times has it happened to you that by some slight thing, misdirection or slight of hand, you were caught unawares?
In an instant you were facing the full blown embarrassment of your situation?

It's horrendous.  It's horrific.  It's something that will likely never leave your mind for very long.

What about a life lived that was wasted?

Oh, we are quick to look on others and in a cursory moment decide we fully understand or understand just enough to say this or that person's life is bad.

Let's go back to the truth.  Truth is your life isn't all that great either if you are not saved in Christ.  You know there is a book being written about you?

Read Revelation 20 again.  A book is being written of every second of your life.  Every single truth about what motivated you to think or act, regardless of what you will try to explain away is there.  Every. Single. Moment.

So you say you're a good and decent person!  Matters not if your name isn't written in the book of Life.

Read it again.  Every single person has a book written of them.  But in the end, the last verse of that passage mattered.

"And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

You see, if you are a bad person or a good person, outside of the book of Life, you are the same.

Only if you have come to Christ and are saved by His Grace, only then is your name written down in the book of Life.

What comes after that changes how your story is written.  After that, what is written is filtered by forgiveness.  It's written with the Author and perfector of our faith in mind.

But, if you haven't received the Salvation of Jesus Christ, you are wasting your life.  Every so-called good thing you do, no matter what it is, isn't enough to get your name written down in the book of Life.

Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father but through Him.

Jesus said that He is the door.  You can't enter Heaven without His permission.

That permission has a requirement.  Salvation.

So look on into 2020. Look all you want.

If you haven't been paying attention, events of this world are quickly headed towards Christ returning.  No prophecy of Scripture has ever been broken.
If you are one of those who are old enough, you may have heard the condition of the truthfulness of a statement as "you can take that to the bank".  With every single letter, every single truth of the Bible will come true.

So know today, my dear reader, spread this word, if indeed you are a believer:

Jesus is coming back.

Will your name be found in the book of Life?  Make sure today!  Read the rest of the book.  There are no second chances after you die.  None.  The accounting book of your life is closed at death.

Will your name be found?
