Awaiting the Savior’s Call: A Personal Devotional by David Brenneman

Awaiting the Savior’s Call: A Personal Devotional by David Brenneman

As I sit and write out the thoughts that the Spirit brings to my mind, I am left just standing in awe.

If you came this far into today's posts this is the second time today that I am being lead to write something.  What I will share as I am laying on my bed are the thoughts that God's bringing to me.  I can only write that which is brought by Him.

I very much feel like this from the book of Daniel 7: "In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel saw a dream and visions in his mind as he lay on his bed;"

In some ways I feel a comfort in that God brings to my mind bits and pieces of Scripture to look up. Reminders of what to look for of what is from God. That said I am drawn to another person.

Acts Chapter 3 "While he was clinging to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them at the portico named Solomon’s, completely astonished. But when Peter saw this, he replied to the people, “Men of Israel, why are you amazed at this, or why are you staring at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made him walk? The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant Jesus, the one whom you handed over and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release Him. But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, 15 but put to death the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses. And on the basis of faith in His name, it is the name of Jesus which has strengthened this man whom you see and know; and the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect health in the presence of you all.
“And now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, just as your rulers also did. But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way. Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send Jesus, the Christ appointed for you, whom heaven must receive until the period of restoration of all things, about which God spoke by the mouths of His holy prophets from ancient times."

My mind, of late, is struggling with two realities. The reality that in Christ, I have the obligation and responsibility to tell others about their need to be saved and the need to work through life that comes at me each day.

We who are in Christ have responsibilities. We aren't living or should expect to live the good life in this life.  We are to put forth the effort to grow in Christ. Yes we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works that we might walk in them.  But we are commanded to be Holy as He is Holy. To live a life worthy of the calling for which we have been called.

Too many voices in the world today have been watering down the Gospel message.

Too many, professing to be Christians are doing what they can to live two lives.

Too many believe that in the end they can't lose their salvation so they will continue to embrace sins of their sinful hearts desires and not live for Christ.

Do you eagerly await the return of Jesus?

Are you among the Bride of Christ awaiting that call from on high to join Him in Heaven?

Are you at all concerned about that day?  In Scripture we see it written of people eagerly awaiting. Does that describe you?

Are you so worried about this life and what you must do to survive that you have neglected to live life with Christ Jesus?

My desires are often at odds with each other.  I crave that day when I at last hear that call from my Savior. I also try to wrap my head around the things necessary in this life. The more I let go of stuff the more time I find myself spending on only those two things.

People in my life have no idea that I pray for them. I pray for those whom I can tell have been living for themselves. I also pray for those whom I know are believers in Christ Jesus.

I have vivid thoughts of those I know who likely rejected Christ Jesus as their Savior and Lord.

It's a motivator to keep pressing on with the call that we who are in Christ Jesus have been called.

I have dreams of what I wanted in this life that He's given me.  The reality is those things won't be happening. Mankind has to face the consequences of sin. Those who have placed their faith and trust in Christ Jesus alone for salvation are the only people who are safe.

Personal opinions mean nothing in the courts of Heaven. Your desire to live life your way won't save you.  Your destiny is Hell without salvation in Jesus Christ.

The day is one day closer to His return.  All the marshaled forces of Satan couldn't prevent Jesus from coming the first time. They couldn't prevent His resurrection from the dead.

They cannot prevent one single decree from Heavens Throne.

The decree that God has issued you can do nothing on your own to stop is that only through the perfect sacrifice of Jesus Christ can you be saved and must be saved. Period.

Satan's convinced billions of people to rely on their own merits and every single person who has, has found themselves in torment in Hell.

Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone.  A changed heart wants to live for the one who saved them.  Jesus said that you would know people by their fruits. You would know if they were saved or not by their lives. There would be evidence of their conversion within. If you are claiming the name of Christ Jesus and you aren't showing evidence of a changed life then you are in danger. Billions will be in Churches across this world within minutes of the Rapture of the true Church.

The Bride of Christ Jesus eagerly awaits His call to come home.

Does this describe you at all? Does the Word of God, the Bible, mean anything to you?

Is there any eagerness to be obedient to God?  Do you have a relationship with Jesus, or in all reality, do you have only an admiration for Him?

Those who have come to Christ are sealed by the Spirit of God.  Your life is hidden with Christ. You are then part of the Bride of Christ. You have a part in His plans to reach others for Jesus.

Are you embracing the world or are you living as a light in a dark world?

These are some of the things that I ponder and what both drives me each day.

I have things to do that God puts before me to do. Recognizing them is up to me.

Writing this blog never ceases to amaze me. Every single day without fail I am charged with writing what God brings to my mind. It's gone all over this world and maybe even into space to the space station. It's upon each of us to be obedient in what God's given us to do.

The Disciples, who later became Apostles, all had a purpose. A mission in life. They were taught to teach others that they too were to realize they too had a mission in their lives. God had you born in this day and age for His good purpose. Not for your personal enjoyment.

Are you so consumed with life that you have forgotten to live it?

Are you so worried by so many things that you have neglected the greater thing and been neglecting sitting at Jesus’s feet?  Those who sit at His feet will not be denied knowing that they were with Him: Jesus.

Are you eagerly waiting for Your Savior at all?

Does obedience to Christ even cross your mind?
