Creation's Silence Creation's Cry

Creation's Silence, Creation's Cry
by David Brenneman

Was listening to the Easter sermon tonight and thoughts came to me that certainly weren't of my own.

Thoughts of Jesus when the Pharisees were yelling at Him to tell people to be silent and His response was that if they would the very rocks would cry out.

The very rocks wouldn't keep silent.

"When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mountain that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘The Lord has need of it.’” So those who were sent left and found it just as He had told them. And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”  They said, "The Lord has need of it.” And they brought it to Jesus, and they threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. Now as He was going, they were spreading their cloaks on the road. And as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, shouting:

Blessed is the King, the One who comes in the name of the LordPeace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

And yet some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!” Jesus replied, “I tell you, if these stop speaking, the stones will cry out!”" Luke 19:29-40 NASB

Was considering that passage, of which begins what we look at that which happened leading up to Easter Sunday.

The thoughts that came next blew my mind.  I think on Jesus's words to John the Baptist when John began objecting to Jesus asking for him to baptizing Him.  Jesus said to permit it. "But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Matthew 3:15 NASB.

Now comes the mind blowing parts.

Creation's silence was Creation's obedience.

The parts of creation that were used to scourge Jesus knew what they were being used for and to whom. The pieces woven into the scourge.

The Spirit telling them to permit it; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.

The part of creation that was the tree on which He hung.

The Spirit telling them to permit it; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.

The nails used to place Him there.

The Spirit telling them to permit it; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.

But then the jubilation after 3 days.  Creation's Cry in an earthquake to open the tomb.

Creation knew that the fulfillment of all righteousness was at hand.  Creation had heard the prophecies of God and knew that the right time of history had come to fulfill all righteousness.

Creation's testimony found in the Scriptures (Google search result source: https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/The-Witness-Of-Creation):

Revelation 4:11
“Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

Nehemiah 9:6
Verse Concepts
“You alone are the Lord.
You have made the heavens,
The heaven of heavens with all their host,
The earth and all that is on it,
The seas and all that is in them.
You give life to all of them
And the heavenly host bows down before You.

Psalm 19:1-4
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.

Psalm 95:6
Verse Concepts
Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.

Psalm 148:5-13
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For He commanded and they were created.
He has also established them forever and ever;
He has made a decree which will not pass away.
Praise the Lord from the earth,
Sea monsters and all deeps;
Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
Mountains and all hills;
Fruit trees and all cedars;
Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and winged fowl;
Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
Both young men and virgins;
Old men and children.
Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above earth and heaven.

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Romans 1:18-20
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

Hebrews 11:3
By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

We read in the Gospel account that over 500 saw the risen Christ Jesus.  We can also see the testimony of His creation and even though sin-cursed, His Creation obeying what was necessary to fulfill all righteousness.

It's an amazing thing to consider that moment of that stone rolling out of the way.  The Bible records it as an earthquake and mentioned an angel...but I have to wonder if it rumbled and wanted to move simply because it knew what day it was and what had happened.

People today look at things and blame it on climate change.

Truth be known this world is GOING to transition to a state that has been predetermined by God for the judgments to come as outlined in the book of Revelation.  Economics, geographic, in all ways.  To fulfill all righteousness.  This world testifies to the truth of God.

The truth doesn't stop being true just because a majority of people don't want to believe it.

God's truth is revealed in His Word and in His Creation.

Just some thoughts this Easter Eve...Yesterday was Friday...but Sunday's a coming!  He is RISEN!
