Considering All

Considering All
by David Brenneman

As I sit here, I am thinking on my life over the last already 10 months.  Oh the changes that God has brought about.  I had no thought or ideas on what to write and I was lead to start considering it all.

I consider it all and am in awe.  Things we have needed have been easily provided for when needed.  God's always on time.

I consider the life left behind and what lies ahead.  I trust that God will continue to be on time.

I consider the things my body’s going through.  I pray daily concerning that.  God's always taken care of that.

I consider the beauty of creation that most drive by and just miss because it's not on their radar.  God's Word says we can see Him in His creation if people would but look.

I consider what is probably in my future and I am feeling a mix of apprehension and concern. God still says that He is there, in my today as well as my tomorrow. He knows my end from my beginning.

I think of hymns at the oddest times and am grateful to have them so ingrained in my mind.

"How Great Thou Art"

O Lord my God

When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy power throughout the universe displayed

Refrain
Then sings my soul
My Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Saviour God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook and feel the gentle breeze

And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die I scarce can take it in
That on the Cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come
With shouts of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
“My God, how great Thou art!”

Life can and will run you over if you let it.

Grace, forgiveness and peace are freely available in Christ Jesus to those who have salvation in Him.

Breathe - Johnny Diaz

Alarm clock screaming bare feet hit the floor
It’s off to the races everybody out the door
I’m feeling like I’m falling behind, it’s a crazy life
Ninety miles an hour going fast as I can
Trying to push a little harder trying to get the upper hand
So much to do in so little time, it’s a crazy life
It’s ready, set, go it’s another wild day
When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel You say just

(chorus)
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at My feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe

Third cup of joe just to get me through the day
Wanna make the most of time but I feel it slip away
I wonder if there’s something more to this crazy life
I’m busy, busy, busy, and it’s no surprise to see
That I only have time for me, me, me
There’s gotta be something more to this crazy life
I’m hanging on tight to another wild day
When it starts to fall apart in my heart I hear You say just

(chorus)
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at My feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need

(bridge)
Is to take it in fill your lungs
The Peace of God that overcomes
Just breathe
Let your weary spirit rest
Lay down what’s good and find what’s best
Just breathe

(chorus)
Just breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at My feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe
Just breathe

Considering the story of Mary and Martha. Of what was important and wouldn't be taken from her.  Consider that yourself. When we are at peace, real peace that God's provided, we just don't want it to end.  Jesus said that it's not peace that is like what the world offers. It's His peace. His.

It's been an interesting journey these last 10 months.  Learning more about myself and what God's wanting me to do before He comes back.  I know not the day nor the hour, but have been convinced from an early age that God's told me His return would be in my lifetime.

To realistically look at my life from God's perspective and interestingly enough Satan's perspective, that thought of His returning in my lifetime rings ever more true.  God's invested much in my life towards the work He’s called me to be doing. Satan's aware and has been trying his best to thwart that plan and shut me up.  On more than one occasion he's sought to kill me to keep me from the work that God's wanting me to be doing.

Oh like as it often happens in considering such things I find my mind going to the song "What He's Done" by Passion Conferences.

I consider all this and am at a peace I can't express or explain.  I have hurdles yet to get over but know that My Savior will make the way straight.  I have great fears yet to be resolved for some things but continue to pray about.

My life is not my own after coming to Christ.  If you are claiming to be a Christian then your life isn't yours either.

"All things are permitted for me, but not all things are of benefit. All things are permitted for me, but I will not be mastered by anything. Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, however God will do away with both of them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body. Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power. Do you not know that your bodies are parts of Christ? Shall I then take away the parts of Christ and make them parts of a prostitute? Far from it!  Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two shall become one flesh.” But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every other sin that a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought for a price: therefore glorify God in your body." 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 NASB

Consider your life. You rush around day after day. Striving to accomplish stuff.  Are you neglecting Jesus for your stuff?  Is your wants and desires really you saying you want your own way and not God's for your life?  Is it really you saying you want your 'kingdom' to come your will to be done on Earth?

Consider your ways. Consider your motivations.  In the last 10 months I have really had to face my own motivations because they weren't driving me towards the righteous life that God desires. Sort of the last part of James 1:20.

Look at your schedule. Look at what you are doing. Are you trying to satisfy you or Jesus?

As workers in this world we have a responsibility to do what we get hired to do. When on the job it's expected that we are to be doing what we were hired to be doing.  Not clocking in and going off to do our own thing.  We get eventually reprimanded and possibly fired for that.  If we respect our employer enough to be disciplined enough to give of ourselves to the tasks we were hired to do, why do we not do that and more for God?  Why do we think that the two are separate? Why do we think that we are going to set up a our own little kingdom here on Earth after we come to Christ?  That God's intention would be our health wealth and prosperity?

Jesus didn't say to expect that at all.  Our needs would be provided for, not necessarily our wants. Jesus said that the world hated Him, they would hate us too. Jesus said that by what we do for Him with all our hearts, people would see and glorify the God of Heaven.

Consider all of your decisions. Not just the big ones, but all.  Are you out for your sanctification and comfort or are you willing to die to self to further the Gospel?

Jesus said to take up our own cross and follow Him.  Now most of the time movie makers don't get it entirely right, but look at most scenes where someone is carrying a cross. They can't carry anything else because that burden of carrying the cross takes everything they have.

Everything.

Are you giving your everything in taking up your own cross?  Or are the things of this world getting you to keep putting your cross down?

Consider it all not just what gives you warm fuzzies. Consider that your time here on Earth is your time spent in the body of Christ for His specific reason. Scripture says we were placed in the body where at in the body as He saw fit.

God has a specific job for specifically you to be doing.  Consider it all. Not just what you want to see.

Are you living for Jesus, striving to please Him in all that you do? Yes another hymn.

Living for Jesus a life that is true,

Striving to please Him in all that I do;

Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,

This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior,

I give myself to Thee,

For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*

Didst give Thyself for me;

I own no other Master,

My heart shall be Thy throne,

My life I give, henceforth to live,

O Christ, for Thee alone.

Consider it all.
